Worditout Presentations

Working with Worditout presentations with Students from 5° year (A) at Colegio de la UNLPam These were some of the cards created in Worditout I delivered to students to work with vocabulary about "Problems in our Community": * Arson, * Robbery, * Mugging, * Holes in the pavement This is a picture taken from the poster students created with the definitions of the problems in our community I designed using Worditout Presentations A challenging and rewarding experience for students who did a great work turning words and phrases into real texts with real meanings I want to share a personal experience using an online tool called “Word it out” which is similar to Wordle during my first day as a trainee at Colegio de la UNLPam. The group of students is composed of 27 students belonging to 5° year at an advanced level. In the first day of my practicum, I had to present the topic “Problems in our community.” So, in the first pla...

Reflection on my ICT classes

Reflection on my ICT classes I would like to start by thanking our teacher Aurelia Garcia by having guided us in our development with ICT learning. Without any doubt, the introduction of technology into the classroom will become a very important step to bring our students a richer learning of the English language.  During our classes, we´ve worked with several online tools that I´ll surely implement during my own teaching of English.  I really like the online tools our teacher has presented us. Most of them are very engaging and easy to handle. Furthermore, most of us really enjoyed working with them. We laughed a lot!  😄   It´s time to take advantage of technology not only as a way of motivating our students but also as a way of communication. In fact, I agree with the idea that websites, social media, social networks, etc. have democratised communication. Therefore, in my blog, I invite you to go through my ICT development. You´ll find h...

Prezi presentation about Social Work

This is a presentation I´ve made on Prezi about Social Work .  This is my favourite site collection! The Flipped Classroom: The Full Picture Based on an Experiential Model of Learning

During one of our classes, we learned what is a  Flipped Classroom This a  Word Cloud  presentation about one of the main tenets of a Flipped Classroom: EXPERIENCE.  Word Cloud is a very useful tool to convey important information in a more attractive way.  We can take advantage of this tool, for instance, to present a new topic. It would be a creative way for students to find their own relationships between words and general meaning.

Image Chef

Image Chef allows us to design personalised images, posters, and memes.  This may be an enjoyable way for students to express feelings and emotions. I designed a meme!😋

Postcasting: Voki

Podcasting : Voki Voki is a really funny educational tool that allows us to create our own talking characters. I find this tool very useful for shy students.  This is the link to my Voki presentation:    http://www.voki.com/site/pickup?scid=12123816&chsm=ab91781927d30be0979afc7c69c051af I want to share a wonderful experience I had during one of my classes at the institute. I am teaching English language to beginners, the group is composed of two boys and one girl. We were working on the topic “Animals in Danger of Extinction” so I proposed them to look for information about native animals in our province that are facing this problem. Once the students had the information about the topic, they had to present it on a Voki presentation. The “funny” problem occurred when I explained to them what is a Voki presentation! because they were extremely eager to use this tool. They were more interested in using this online resource than to present their works. ...

LEARNING OBJECTS

Learning Objects : Bubbl.us  This is my mind mapping about "Doctors Without Borders." Bubbl.us is an interesting online tool to make thematic webs.  My experience in class with this kind of website was very useful. I implemented this tool during a pre-task activity at Colegio de la UNLPam with students belonging to 5° Year (A) As the task that students have to accomplish is the writing of a letter to the editor, during the pre-task stage I showed them a Piktochart presentation about “How to do a letter to the editor.” I explained to them what is a letter to the editor, the purpose of writing a letter to the editor, and the way in which they could arrange ideas, opinions and factual information. As I have made my own letter to the editor I showed them the process of my writing, and it was at this moment that I presented them a brainstorming I designed using Bubbl.us presentations. While the students were working in their own brainstormings, some ...

short videos in ELT

Short videos in ELT Here there are two wonderful videos to work with students in our ELT lessons. I think they may be a motivating way to deal with topics such as preconceptions, prejudices and addiction.  They do not only provide stimulus for classroom activities but also foster critical thinking. Let´s take advantage of them!😉 The 1st is called FAREWELL WITH THE LAST KNIT and the 2nd one is called THE BALCONY GIRL I´ve also found some interesting videos to work with students. Indeed, I´ve used some of them to talk with my students about gender, discrimination, education, etc. Nevertheless, beyond the topics we may suggest, the most important and rewarding of working with videos in ELT classes are the topics students may propose from watching them.  From this video we can suggest topics such as: * gender  * education * food * toys From this 2nd video we can suggest topics such as :  * Discrimination * Self-Resp...
